Ink, Acrylic, Pastel, Pencil, Chalk, Charcoal, Oil Stick on Canvas
61 x 61cm

This piece is an exploration of the human psyche and a representation of the emotional landscape and what it means to be human. As a trained Art Psychotherapist, my art work is really led by emotional attunement and capturing the essence of emotions and feelings through my use of the materials. I wanted to represent the full range of human emotional experience - from the bold, uplifting, joyous emotions, to the more pensive to those which are more messy and even darker. I think the juxtaposition of dark, complicated emotions next to the bright, colourful ones feels really poignant - as a reminder of how closely they can both sit next to one another, and how fluid and changeable human emotions can be - either through just the nature of everyday life, or through more complex mental health conditions such as depression or psychosis.
