This piece was painted soon after the birth of my third child and, as such, has come to hold a very significant meaning for me. Whilst the colours signify a joyous celebration of colour and happiness - safety, love, healing and relief - this painting also represented two key moments for me. First, a much-craved and long-awaited return to my own creative space and sanctitude; the first time on my own to just be and to externalise my feelings and emotions after a gruelling birth. I felt the creative energy, colours and feelings just pour out of me. Second, it represented a conscious decision to finally pursue my own artistic endeavours and to make a better life for myself and my family; one where I can live as authentically as possible - pursuing a career as an artist, whilst also modelling this lifelong ambition to my young children. Brody, to me, represents strength, self-belief, beauty, love and celebration.
